One of the most significant elements in a marketing strategy is visibility. You could be the best at what you do, but if your prospects don’t know you exist, it’s all for naught. In this guide, we’ll be talking about 5 things you can do to keep your agency top of mind for AEP.

1. Have Social Media Presence

Treat your agency like a brand. One of the best ways to build a brand in the digital age is to develop an online presence. Social Media marketing has become increasingly influential in being seen and initiating conversation. In best practice, you should post accordingly to a schedule and only post relevant or helpful content. If you become a valuable resource, people will remember you when looking to schedule their appointments.

2. Personal Communication

There are several ways to improve your relationship with clients. One is to call all your new clientele in early January to welcome them to their new insurance plan. During this call, you should thank them for trusting you to help them and remind them that you appreciate referrals to their friends and family if you find that this doesn’t work for you. Thank you cards are another way to establish this close connection, as are birthday cards or other physical mail. Finding personal ways to keep your clients thinking about you should be near the top of your to-do list regardless of how you do it.

3. Monthly newsletter

Like personal communication, a monthly newsletter holds weight when keeping in touch with your clients. It provides a dedicated space where you can offer Medicare information directly to your clients. You may be surprised by the change you see in client retention. Topics you can cover include:

  • Medicare FAQ’s
  • Differences between Medicare Advantage & Medigap plans
  • Seasonal Health and Wellness Tips
  • Reminders about benefits like telehealth, vision, and gym memberships.
  • Other products that you offer (use sparingly)
  • Personal Touches (favorite local restaurants or events you have attended)

Depending on how your audience responds best, you can choose to send out your newsletter either by mail or email.

4. In-person/ virtual events

While online presence, personal communication, and newsletters are all useful, hosting events is another way to establish yourself in the minds of your audience. You can set up retail booths, host a chat at a restaurant or café, or go virtual with a webinar to get engaged with your audience.

However, before you schedule an event, make sure you understand the CMS marketing guidelines. Educational events should be used to inform in an unbiased way, and marketing or sales events could push prospects towards a specific plan or set of plans. You also can never host an event in a one-on-one setting. There are many more CMS guidelines you would have to follow to host an event, so familiarize yourself with them before scheduling one.

5. Sponsored internet searches

Make sure your agency is near the top when someone searches the internet for their options with Search Engine Optimization Keywords or paying the search engine to boost your presence. Positioning yourself near the top like this significantly increases your visibility and drives more traffic to your website.

These aren’t the only ways to keep your agency top of mind, but this list provides a starting point so you can start off on the right foot to having a successful selling season.
