Serving Those Who Served

With it being Memorial Day this week, our thoughts turn to those who have fought and died for our country. We also have 19 million brave service people who are no longer active duty that we can help and serve as our own “Thank you for your service.” Let us examine what we as insurance agents can do and how to market to these heroes.

Where do you find veterans?

Many different organizations focus on those who have served in our armed forces. Here is just a short list of places to start:

  • Local VFWs
  • US Department of Veteran’s Affairs
  • AMVETS organizations
  • Local charities that support veterans

How do you market to veterans?

Most of your traditional methods of marketing will work with just a service personal focus. Some of the most effective we have found are:

  • Pre-approach letters
  • Community events
  • Business reply cards
  • Direct mailers

What products would a veteran need?

Depending on the age of the service member, they could use a wide variety of products and services.

If they are under 65:

  • HMO
  • PPO
  • A plan from the ACA Marketplace

If they are 65 or older:

  • PDP
  • Dental, Vision, and Hearing
  • Silver Sneakers
  • Part B Giveback

These Veterans have given so much to protect our freedoms; it is our turn to give back. You will find serving this market is both rewarding personally and professionally.
